Get set for Global Recycling Day

Welcome to our March newsletter and the start of a fresh new season. On the blog recently we shared some tips on how to become an eco-minimalist so you can learn to create a clean space at home while disposing of extra or unwanted items in a mindful, eco-friendly way.

If you want to save cash and avoid plastic, switching from liquid soaps to bar soaps is a great place to start. Bar soaps have come a long way in the past few decades and you can now buy them for almost every household need, from washing your hair to your dishes and even your pets!

March 18 is Global Recycling Day, a recycling initiative that encourages us to look at our rubbish in a new light. Recycling lessens the energy we use, enhances the quality of water and air we breathe, and combats climate change. Here are five ways to get recycling.

5 easy ways to recycle

1 Separate materials -
One of the simplest ways to recycle is by separating your recyclable materials from your rubbish. This includes separating paper, plastic, glass, and metal.

2 - Get composting
Composting is a natural way to recycle organic waste such as food scraps and grass trimmings. This process turns the waste into nutrient-rich soil that can be used for gardening.

3 - Try Upcycling
Upcycling is the process of taking old or discarded materials and turning them into something new and useful. For example, you can turn an old t-shirt into a tote bag or use glass jars as storage containers.

4 - Donate or sell unwanted items
Another way to recycle is by donating or selling items that you no longer need or want. This includes clothing, furniture and electronics.

5 - Using recycled products
Finally, you can recycle by purchasing products made from recycled materials. This includes recycled paper, plastic, and glass products, as well as clothing made from recycled materials.

Happy recycling!

“Even if you never have the chance to see or touch the ocean, the ocean touches you with every breath you take, every drop of water you drink, every bite you consume. Everyone, everywhere is inextricably connected to and utterly dependent upon the existence of the sea.” – Dr. Sylvia Earle.

Thanks for keeping our oceans clean and forests green!
