Celebrate Plastic Free July in your community

Welcome to our July newsletter, hard to believe we are already halfway through the year! This month we are celebrating Plastic Free July and we have a blog filled with easy ways to reduce plastic pollution right here. If committing to going plastic-free for the whole month seems daunting, just pick a few ideas and build up slowly, every little helps.

Recently on the blog, we’re tackling ways to green up your kitchen with 10 eco-friendly kitchen tips. From smart ways to make the most of your oven to making your own cleaning products, there’s heaps of handy ideas to try.

Plastic-Free July in your community
Plastic Free July is a global movement now in its 12th year, encouraging millions of people to be part of the solution to plastic pollution. Here are some great ways you can go plastic-free within your own community, and inspire others to do the same.

1 - Host a plastic-free picnic
Have fun with friends and neighbours and raise awareness by hosting a plastic-free picnic this month. Bake treats, make sandwiches and bring cut fruit and vegies in reusable containers. Use reusable cutlery, plates and glasses and ask everyone to BYO water bottles. Empowering people with the skills to go plastic-free, even for one meal, is a great way to kick-start change.

2 - Plan or join a clean-up
Gather with family or friends and embark on a clean-up in your neighbourhood, local beach or waterway. Bring buckets, tongs and gloves and remember to wear closed shoes, hats and sunscreen. Being involved in positive action feels good and is more motivating than dwelling on the issue of plastic pollution.

3 - Organise a movie screening
Invite friends over and watch an eco-documentary together. Some of our favourites are A Plastic Ocean (Apple TV), Plastic Island (Netflix) and Seaspiracy (Netflix). For kids, try classic movies like Finding Dory, The Little Mermaid or My Octopus Teacher, to help them cultivate an appreciation for our beautiful oceans.

Thanks for keeping our oceans clean and forests green!
